Dear Member Parent or Guardian The Club has recently received information from the Welsh Canoeing
Association (WCA) on the new rules and regulations for Canoeing Clubs to adhere
to. The Club is affiliated to the WCA as required by law to drawdown funding and
also and most importantly to acquire insurance for our members. The new rules
state that if a participant attends the club for more than 3 sessions they have
to become members of the club and pay the annual subscription of; Junior £10.00 Adult £15.00 Family (2 or more) £20.00 This will ensure that the participant is fully insured whilst attending the
weekly sessions and also whilst attending the trips. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused but we must insure that we function
as a club by law and your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. If you are not a member and require a membership form please inform myself or
one of the coaches on Wednesday evening. As you may or may not be aware every year the Leisure Centre increase their
fees for the hire of the swimming pool, sports hall etc and for many years we
have been able to keep the subscription fees the same price. Unfortunately this
year it is with regret that we have had to put the weekly subscriptions up from
£2.00 to £2.50, this will take immediate effect as and from next week (11
October 2006). On a brighter note I feel it is important to inform you that over the summer
holidays the Club was successful in acquiring a grant to purchase a range of new
equipment. With this new development, the Club we will now be able to
accommodate more paddlers on a weekly session and arrange more trips, A big
THANK YOU to Jon Kivell (aka Tip top ) for his hard work to secure this
grant. River trips have now began with new members invited. Please
ask on club nights for trip information. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me
on the above details or alternatively one of the coaches at the weekly sessions. Yours Amanda Abbott (Club Sec
)

The club was established in the summer of 2003 and continues to grow in membership and popularity. We aim to cater for all paddling disciplines from touring to freestyle hot dogging! We have the large pool at Ebbw Vale to practice and the lake at Bryn Bach, Tredegar. The club was started by the brothers Kivell Steve and Jon (AKA Johnny tip top) Thanks to their hard work and devotion the town has another quality club to attract young people in from the streets. In addition to pool time we also run regular trips to the rivers and the coast for surfing and touring. If you have an interest in paddling or would like to join the club then the contact page will give you the numbers to call.
